Our Editor

Community Life Magazines distributes to all towns and villages in Runnymede Borough with engaging community news, history of the borough, health, home and garden and current events delivered free through the door of residents and available for collection at popular destinations.

Jess Contos

I am delighted to be taking over Community Life Magazines from founder Mary Hammond.

I have a strong background in publishing, having previously been Commissioning Editor for the lifestyle section of S Magazine (Sunday Express), Homes Editor of House Beautiful, and a freelance interiors journalist and stylist for many years, including a stint as Art Director for Habitat.

I was involved with Community Life previously, helping Mary launch Cobham & Esher Life two years ago and working across Runnymede Life and Weybridge & Brooklands Life. I’ve lived in Weybridge most of my life, and raised four children here, so these communities mean a great deal to me. I went to school in Weybridge as did my grandfather, my mother and my 4 children. I also have strong links with Esher as my father lived there for many years and for the past year I worked for Esher Theatre as Bookings and Client Liaison Manager until this fabulous opportunity came up.

As co-presenter of the Just Women show on Brooklands Radio, I often talk to amazing women who are embracing new chapters in midlife (and beyond!), so I’m incredibly grateful to Mary for giving me this chance to realise my own dream of owning magazines at this more confident and experienced stage of life (it’s never too late!).

The 3 free magazines reach an incredible 52,000 addresses across Surrey, delivered via Royal Mail which is an impressive outreach actually delivered through your door.

Moving forward, I’ll be mixing things up a little, introducing new contributors and fresh editorial content, while keeping everything readers know and love about Community Life. Above all, we’ll continue celebrating and connecting our wonderful communities.
