Doris Neville-Davies is to be acknowledged by Queen Elizabeth II for her 35 years’ service to education as part of the largest volunteer force in the in the UK. Doris has served as a governor for 35 years across nine schools in Spelthorne, Addlestone, Walton and Weybridge. She was appointed to seven of those schools as they were experiencing difficulties, having trained as one of Surrey’s advanced skills governors and later as a National Leader of Governance, Doris said, ‘It has been hard work, at times daunting, but always stimulating.’ Doris is married with two children and four grandchildren and has worked part-time in the Chertsey Museum for 20 years.
