A new 62,937 sq ft business park with premises for up to 12 companies has just been launched in Chertsey, creating the potential for businesses to relocate or expand in the town, supporting jobs and the local economy.
The business park has been set up by Runnymede Borough Council on land it owns, to help improve the borough economy and support local people.
Named Chertsey Business Park, it is within the town’s Hanworth Lane industrial estate so its occupants will be in the centre of an existing lively business community. Hanworth Lane is already home to luxury furniture provider Kesterport, railway and civil engineering company Lowery, flooring supplier YTD UK systems engineering house Drumgrange and industrial after-market parts retailer KM Products Europe.
The two-acre site is expecting its first tenant businesses to open their doors before the new year, and the Council is now calling on other businesses which can see the potential of the new location, to contact them.
DRIVING NEW JOBS
Cllr Nick Prescot, Leader of Runnymede Borough Council said: “We are ambitious for the future of the borough and working with the private sector means we can drive new jobs by creating the kind of premises businesses are looking for. Ultimately, a strong business community supports a vibrant town and the wider population through a healthy local economy.
“At a time where jobs are uncertain in some sectors, I’m pleased we’re able to offer businesses a quality location at competitive rates.” Firms considering re-location but which still need great access to London and the South East for distribution would be really well placed to take a serious look at this site.”
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS
The new business park also has substantial environmental credentials which will help to meet the Council’s ambitious goals for the environment.
The scheme has a minimum six per cent decrease in CO2 emissions over 2013 Buildings Regulation and
- Low air permeability design,
- Electric vehicle charging points,
- Natural lighting,
- High performance insulated cladding and roof materials,
- Secure cycle parking, and
- All units have a grade A EPC rating.
Chertsey Business Park has units ranging from 3,756 sq ft up to 7,300 sq ft for office, research and development, light industrial, storage and distribution uses (classes B1c, B2 and B8). There will also be the opportunity for some units to be combined with the single largest combined unit possible being 45,973 sq ft.
