‘The Ottershaw Potter’ in the village of Ottershaw is opposite The One Stop introducing pottery to the local community.
Every Saturday and Sunday (come rain or shine), Ioanna sits outside her house with pottery items she’s produced. She has little bits she gives away, and usually has free pottery making for kids including last Halloween she was telling children to pop down and make little pumpkins.
The kids make them in her garden (socially distanced) make the little item jag then she’ll fire it and you pick it up the following week – all free. She’s such an interesting kind lovely lady to talk too.
Ioanna used to run the Arts & Craft after school class at Ottershaw School until last years’ lock down – hence her little stall. She also sells clay for you to make something at home and then bring it back to her and she’ll fire it, it’s all very reasonable so she’s not doing this just for the money.
There’s nothing more therapeutic than getting your hands stuck into some clay whether you’re 5 or 95!
